Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro 67650

I recently found the need to buy a juicer that would be easy to clean and an economic price. I did some research and most of the ones I found were $150 and up until I researched the Hamilton website and discovered the Hamilton 67650 juicer. For those who want a basic juicer at a reasonable price I recommend the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro 67650 ($75). This single-speed model is fast and if you want to juice all kinds of fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots, and pineapples then the juicer is the perfect addition for your kitchen. The wide, 3-inch feed chute on the Big Mouth juicer saves work by reducing the need for pre-chopping, and the peel of fruits and vegetables because the size of the mouth can fit an apple. It is easy to assemble and disassemble and has locking latches for safety. Cleanup is easy thanks to a large pulp container a handy cleaning brush and dishwasher-safe parts, but it’s a five minute clean up by hand.
The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro 67650 comes with a one-year limited warranty which gives plenty of time to test the juicers durability. I would recommend it if you are looking for a juicer to make some great drinks.

DEWALT DC720KA Heavy-Duty Cordless 18-Volt Compact Drill

Recently my father and I have been building some shelves and a workbench in his garage. This story is not about the shelves or the workbench but the tool we used to drill holes and screw everything together. Our drill is a DeWALT DC925KA Heavy-Duty XRP 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Hammer drill.
DeWALT is a well-known company that makes many different tools, but it especially well known for their drills. What I like the most about the drill is its power and durability.  This drill has been through a lot and is still working just as it always has. Just the other day it slipped from my hand and fell about 5 feet. To my surprise, the drill was fine and I continued drilling. When I buy things, I usually like to spend a few extra bucks to get something that is well made. This is definitely the case when it comes to work tools. You get what you paid for. If you buy cheap stuff it will breakdown on you.
The DeWALT DC925KA Heavy-Duty XRP 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Hammer drill is a great drill that is durable and packs a solid punch.

Microsoft Wirless Mobile Mouse 6000

This week I had to buy a new mouse. I ended up buying a mouse from Best Buy that was made by Microsoft. It uses the new Blue Track technology that is supposed to be the most accurate laser out. I disagree and have not been satisfied with it.
I had an old normal laser mouse before made by HP, and it always worked without fail. Since purchasing the new Microsoft mouse, I have encountered a few problems where the arrow on the screen lags behind or stutters. In addition, I play a few video games, and it works horrible for them. It actually worked so bad I have resorted to using an old wired mouse.
The Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 cost me about $40.00 dollars and I regret buying it. I will now need to go buy a new mouse. You may have some different experience, but I am extremely disappointed in the performance.

3•2•1® GS home entertainment system

When it comes to home entertainment there is nothing like a great sound system. Whether you are watching a movie, sports, or listening to music the sound system is the most important part. At home, we have a Bose sound system.
The 3.2.1. GS home entertainment system offers great value at a great price. Some sound systems can retail more than $3,000.00 especially when your looking at Bose. The 3.2.1. GS system is just about $1,000.00 and has extremely great sound. It does with two speakers what some systems can only do with five.  Now here is the kicker, it is also a DVD player. It combines it all into one simple system.
If you are looking for a great sound system/ DVD player consider the Bose 3.2.1 GS Home entertainment system. It costs a little more money than other systems but you will not regret it.

Trek 3900 Disc

Living in Florida I often enjoy riding bikes all around. I especially enjoy looking for fun trails or interesting places to ride. I used a bike made by the Trek Company. They make a wide variety of very high quality bikes. I have a three series, 3900 Disc mountain bike by Trek. It retails for about $550.00
If your thinking about buying a bike to ride off road and trails you should look into mountain bikes. Many companies make great bikes, however mountain bikes tend to look a lot alike. When looking for a good bike it is very important to invest and get a good bike. The reason I say this is that if you buy a cheap bike it may break on you and you could be hurt very bad. I have actually had a cheap bike break almost in half on me.
Trek is a very good company whose products you can trust. I have put this bike through a lot of very tough use. The Trek 3900 Disc Mountain Bike is great, and definitely, something I would suggest to anyone looking for a good mountain bike.

Hewlett Packard Office jet Pro 8500A

Recently I walked into an Office Depot and they were offering a special deal. If I turned in my old printer I could receive $100.00 off a new already discounted printer. The original price was around $500.00 so I was able to bring the price down to about $300.00 and walk out with this amazing printer. It is an all in one, which means it Prints, Copies, Faxes, and Scans. It can handle just about anything that a household would throw at it. We also have one in our office at work, and it works well for light business use too. It feeds ink from a main cartridge into a temporary cartridge and onto the job. This is good because if you are in the middle of printing and the main cartridge runs out you have time to replace it and not interrupt the job. In my mind, this is one of the best printers out on the market right now.  Hewlett Packard is a great company with good reliable products, and this printer is just another example of that.

The Ultimate Dividend Playbook By: Josh Peters

This week I want to talk about a book that I have been reading. The name of the book is The Ultimate Dividend Playbook by Josh Peters, CFA. Josh Peters is editor of Morningstar Dividend Investor.  Morningstar is an investment research company that tracks more than 250,000 investment offerings.
I really enjoy learning about investing, primarily through the stock market. Dividend paying stocks are not the most popular and so there is not always a lot of information about them. This book is really great and outlines why dividend paying stocks over the long term are very great investments. I am about halfway through the book and have found it to be very insightful. I already had been looking into dividends because of the reliability of the income they produce. If you have are an investor or you are interested in investments check this book out. I think it will really change your mind on a lot of issues regarding investing.

Best Buy

I want to take some time this week to talk about Best Buy.  For the most part Best Buy is a wonderful company. They almost always will have whatever I am looking for, and a couple things I’m not also. Their employees are helpful and more knowledgeable than other electronic tech stores like Office Depot or Radio Shack. However, I do have a problem with their return policy. You might say that most companies today follow similar practices, however I had expected just a little more from them.
It has been 60 days since I bought my Gateway computer, and the computer started to act up on me. I would be working on PowerPoint and it would freeze up completely. I also experienced an issue one day when it just shutdown. I called Best Buy with hopes they would trade me out a new one, but their response was “Have you had your computer more than 14 days?” to which I responded yes, and the answer is you cannot return it. I was a little mad to say the least. I have only had the computer 60 days. I know most companies follow these similar procedures, but I believe if you buy a big ticket item 14 days is way to short. They make you call the manufacturer and solve the issue yourself. I feel like if they deal with these manufactures all the time, and have good relations they ought to be able to extend more than a 14 day return policy. I will continue shopping at Best Buy because I have no choice( and that is yet another story as well) but I sure am upset by this.

ChuckIt!

This week I am going to let you in on one of my favorite Pet Toys. I am an animal lover, and I have two dogs. Both dogs love to chase tennis balls and just about anything you throw. The Chuckit Ultra is a very basic toy, but it does an amazing thing. The Chuckit helps you throw tennis balls 2-3 times the normal distance you could with your arm alone. The benefit of this product is completely two fold. First you won’t be throwing your arm out or even getting tired trying to chuck a tennis ball for your dog. Second the distance you can throw is now much further, so the dog is happy. I have seen this product before at stores but was not impressed. I thought to myself that I could probably throw the same distance. I decided to buy it one day just for some fun. To my amazement it really works well. I was throwing the ball easily twice the distance many times up to 3 times the distance. I actually had to throw lighter because the ball was going so far my dog lost sight of it! To any dog owners out there with dogs that love to fetch. The Chuckit Ultra is an amazing product that will fill your life with hours of fun. Try it out sometime.

Gillete Mach 3 Turbo

Gillette Mach3 Turbo's three-bladed manual razor has been around for over 10 years and is still rated among the best of manual razors. Mach3 provides a close, comfortable shave at a reasonable price for both razor and replacement cartridges. Comparing the Mach3 to both the five-bladed Gillette Fusion ($11) or the four-bladed Schick Quattro ( $10) the Mach3 is better than the Quattro but not as good as the Fusion. Still, the Mach3's replacement blades cost about a dollar less than those of the Fusion, so there's a significant cost savings over time and there is not much difference.
I have found that the Gillette Mach 3 works far better than other razors. I have a very sensitive face, and can easily start to breakout if using a rough blade that irritates my skin. I love this razor and it has always given me a nice clean shave. I would reccomend it to anyone.

Shimano CPC-X66MB

I recently moved to Naples, FL. The apartments that I am renting here is on the water, and someone had left a rod. I began taking up fishing and soon realized I needed a better rod in order to catch the “big ones”.
I have recently bought a new rod, the Shimano CPC-X66MB it cost me about $100.00 at the Bass Pro Shop, and I am using the old reel still from the other pole. The rod itself is amazingly light and very flexible. I have found that I have a much better ability to control the lure through the water. One of the most important parts to catching a fish is causing the lure to act like a real fish and to twitch through the water as if it were injured. The flexibility of the rod lets me flick the rod much better and really give the lure an added likeness of being real.
I am thoroughly satisfied with the rod and it has proven to be a great buy. Now I just need to find a reel to upgrade for it. I would suggest this rod to anyone looking to upgrade from a beginners fishing rod.

Klipsch Pro Audio 2.1

I know you all must be waiting for me to dish the dirt on some product I hate, but the time has not come yet. This week I’m sitting at my desk and I notice my computer speakers. They are not just any average speakers they are Klipsch THX speakers. They are top of the line , and I would venture to say the best speakers out. Here’s the story behind the speakers. Three years ago when I was still using my old computer my dad was looking to get me a birthday present. My old speakers had just blown and I asked for some help. He must have been feeling good because he got me the top of the line speakers, Klipsch THX set. They have awesome sound great base, and they have a powerful subwoofer. Now here is the most important part. When I went to buy my new computer a few months ago, I saw the same exact speakers on display with the new computers. This goes to prove that the speakers hold their own and truly are a very great value. If your looking for some speakers that will really add some great sound to your computer I recommend looking at the Klipsch THX speakers.

Chick-Fil-A

One of my favorite places to eat is Chick-Fil-A. It is a fast food restaurant, but it is somehow different than all the rest. They have friendly service, good food, and clean facilities. The food is priced a little higher than other fast food companies, but you get so much more.  Here in Naples for the month of February they gave out a different breakfast item free every day. The most surprising of all for me was the sausage biscuit. That’s all it is, sausage on a bread biscuit, but it’s good. I thought it would be horrible because it just looked so plain, and I thought where is the egg and cheese? I tell you the truth, it doesn’t need it. Chick-fil-a’s entire menu seems to be this way though. Their food is better all-around than any other fast food company. It does cost a little more, but I bet you will like what you get. I always recommend Chick-Fil-A to my friends; just don’t try to eat there on Sunday. They are closed nationwide every Sunday.

Droid Nexus One

Back when Motorola first dropped the Droid Nexus One I was looking to buy a phone. I decided I really liked the idea of open source and to many people had iPhones already so I purchased the Motorola Droid. I am happy to say that after nearly 2 years I am still completely satisfied with this phone. It just does so many things that make my life much more enjoyable and stress free.

I will list just a few of the things I love most about the Droid Nexus One. First is that it links to my Google e-mail address. I created a Google Mail account when I got the phone and now my mail is effortlessly synced with my phone. The second part fits with the mail account, but it is Google’s calendar. My father and I both have Droids. We also both work together in business. Our schedules can get very hectic at times. We set up Google Calendars that we share with each other and from the phone or the web can update the calendar which syncs to each other’s phone. We can now see exactly what the other has planned for the day. The third thing I love is the GPs navigation, which has saved me so many times when lost or just trying to find my way somewhere. It has a ton of other features that are too many to list, but those are the ones that standout in my life.
I’m looking to upgrade soon and I’m trying to decide whether to stay with the Droid Nexus One style or get the larger Droid –X, but whatever I choose the Droid Nexus One is an extremely good choice for anyone that  needs a phone to help them keep their life organized and more manageable.

Casio fx-115 ES

To introduce one of this week’s products I must first tell you how bad I am in math. I am really bad with fractions and some of the longer division. Needless to say I have found a great friend in calculators.
When I was in about the 9th grade I got introduced to the TI-85. The TI-85 is a graphing calculator that is made by Texas Instruments. I would say that it is probably my best friend through high school and college; however this post is not about the TI-85. This is about the Casio fx-115 ES.
The Casio fx-115 ES looks very basics when it is sat next to the much larger TI-85, and it surely cannot do a lot that the TI does, but the TI lacks some basics features that the Casio excels at. You might not think so at first glance. You might overlook the Casio if you didn’t know any better. In fact, the only reason I found out about the Casio was that I had lost my TI-85, and was rushing to a test. I grabbed whatever calculator was left (the Casio) and ran to class. That test was a math test and I got an A. What the Casio does, is it allows you to input the problem the same exact way you see it on the paper. Fractions, powers, and square roots can all be easily input. You can put fractions within other fractions and all of the complicated things that can be so messy on a TI-85. I Love the Casio fx-115 ES, it has made my life so much better, and helped me so much.
Now I still use the TI-85 for hard graphing calculations, and other problems that it does so very well, but now I carry two calculators. I use them both together, combining both of their strengths. I would tell anyone who is not strong in math to take a look at the Casio fx-115 ES it retails at  about $18.00 and can be found just about any place that sells calculators. I got mine at Wal-Mart.

Emergency Pet Hospital of Collier County

2 weeks ago, my dog Tank ate a sock. Now, this is not a completely abnormal occurrence. Tank has so far eaten a sofa, love seat, table, a frog, and 12 socks. Normally when he eats socks he will eventually get them to come back up out of his system, and everything is fine. This time however, when tank tried to get the sock out he was unable
This leads me to this week’s company. The Emergency Pet Hospital of Collier County, My fiancĂ© and I have recently moved Naples from Ft. Lauderdale so we were not sure where to go or who to trust. We choose this vet simply out of convenience because of location, and lucked out. .
When it comes to animals, they get expensive, and anytime you have to go to an emergency vet you can see the money burning in front of you. All of this aside, the staff and the doctors at this vet were as nice as they come; the service they provided was great. They were very considerate and had a lot of patience for all of our questions.
Tank ended up needing surgery to remove the sock, and the vets did a very great job. Tank has now be recuperating for 2 weeks and is back to his same old tricks; however, we keep our socks hidden much more now.
If you live in Naples, and have an emergency pet issue, you can trust the staff and vets at The Emergency Pet Hospital of Collier County.

LA FITNESS

You probably already know who and what LA Fitness is, but in case you do not, I would like to fill you in. LA fitness is a nationwide gym. It offers its member the ability to use not only the gym in their immediate area, but all the other gyms in the United States as well. For instance let us say I decide to take trip to Orlando I can use that La Fitness as if it were my own. The gym offers a wide variety of amenities at a very low cost. A membership is only 30.00 a month. If you are looking to workout, I would suggest looking into LA Fitness. You may find cheaper gyms, but I doubt they will offer all the benefits and convenience of LA FITNESS

Steam Wizard

I want to share with you my experience with the Sharper Image Steam Wizard. This product is an All-in-One tool used to removed stains and soils in carpet and upholstery. I cannot remember exactly what I paid for the Wizard but it was not cheap. I did look on E-bay and found one used though for only $45.00. Well I want to say that I’m actually quite satisfied with this product. Now it is not the end all miracle working machine, but it has saved me many times in the case of pet pee-pee.
Many times my dogs decide to mark what they believe is “Their” Territory on my carpet. They try to do it in a sneaky manner when I’m not looking. Later when I walk around the house and see it I run for the Wizard. A quick fill of the tank and a short warm up get the tool in action.
   It has 3 settings:
1)      Spray for a steaming hot light spray of water.
2)      Stream which gives a heavier dose of steam water,
3)      Vacuum which does the obvious and sucks up the dirty water
I will generally use the stream setting and apply the steam in third or half tank amounts vacuuming in between. The trick is to soak the area very well and immediately vacuum very well. You would be surprised how well it can work. It won’t get everything out all the time, and you must be patient and sometimes do the process twice even three times, however it is my experience that it has helped me many a time.

Nike +

This post is about a product that was formed by two companies and has made a huge impact on many people’s lives. These people more specifically being runners.  Two companies who both provide products to the running industry saw the power of forming an alliance. The two companies are Nike and Apple. Together the companies formed Nike + which is used in conjunction with an apple i-pod or i-phone.
Nike + is a small sensor that is inserted in the heel of a Nike + shoe (which is marked on the front and inside). Once the sensor is in another piece attaches to the iPod or iPhone. The two parts communicate between each other as the user goes for a run. The system will track distance and time of the run, and if you want will audibly alert you to distance markers as the user reaches them.
In order for this to work you must purchase 3 parts:
1)      You can use iPod or iPhone but the cheapest would be
6th Generation 8 Gigabyte Apple ipod – $149.00
2)      Now you need the shoes, an inexpensive starter pair might be
Men -LIVESTRONG Lunarfly+ 2 Men’s Running Shoe    $80.00
Women – LunarElite+ 2 Women’s Running Shoe    $100.00
3)      Finally you need the sensor
Nike+ Sport Carrying Case    $19.99
Together all of this will cost right around $200.00 - $ 300.00. That’s a lot of money, however most people may own some parts already and therefore the cost will not be incurred all at once. To a runner this system is truly awesome. To be able to listen to your music and get feedback about your running during your run is very motivating and valuable.  I would suggest this product if you like to run.

Gateway FX6840

I want to tell everyone this time about my new  Gateway computer. I have had it now for a few months and I have got to say it is a great computer. I had originally been looking at the Hewlett-Packard and the Dell computers, but after seeing the Gateway I decided to change my mind. This is the computer I bought:
Gateway FX6840-15e
Intel Core i7 870 processor
8 GB DDR3 memory
ATI Radeon HD5750 Graphics – 1GB GDDRS V RAM
1 Terabyte hard drive
Super Multi DVD +/- RW optical drive
5.1 channel high-definition audio

The biggest reason I choose to go with the gateway is that it offered the same specifications as the other computer brands, but was $100.00 dollars cheaper. I actually almost didn’t even see it because one had just sold and they hadn’t brought another one to the floor yet.  I am extremely pleased with the Gateway.

Scrub DNC

This week’s topic is a software program I use called Scrub DNC.  It is used to scrub phone lists to make sure that they are compliant with national do not call laws. The software is very good in my mind and is some of the best I have found. Designer Shoe Warehouse Inc.

When consumers are evaluating a retail company they analyze many different things, however I believe that a very large portion of the evaluation comes down to just two things. Do they have whatever it is I am looking for, and is the price lower than the competition? These two factors are a large part of what can drive consumers in to or away from your business.
Designer Shoe Warehouse, better known as DSW Inc. is an example of satisfying these two key components. If you have never heard of them let me tell you. The company specializes in all types of shoes from sneakers to dress up, and they sell them at very competitive prices. Listed are a few examples.
Women’s Shoes
$59.95
Compare at $65.00
$99.95
Compare at $450.00

Men’s Shoes
$64.95
Compare at $80.00
$79.95
Compare at $130.00

As you can see they offer quite the bargain. If you have patience you can find even better bargains in their clearance section. I found a pair of Nike's I wear on a regular basis for 70% off in clearance. I understand that some would say DSW is just another discount shoe retailer, however I beg to differ. They offer really nice shoes and a complete mix. If you have never been into a store I urge you to give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

Rick Case Honda of Davie

I want to talk this week about a great experience I had with Rick Case Honda, and an employee named Frank Parlante. I normally have a very hard time with car dealerships and the salesman that go with it. Frank Parlante at Rick Case Honda is the first to change this for me. I met Frank while my fiancĂ© and I were returning our leases, and looking for 2 new cars. Frank really went out of his way for us.
We have been dealing with Rick Case for about 3 years now throughout our lease term. The whole way they have offered us amazing grade A service, and Frank was no exception. I wish I could tell you all the things he did to make our experience great, but there are just too many. I will list a couple; He showed us any and all vehicles we wanted to see with not a bit of rush, he clearly explained pros and cons of all our options, he always greeted us with a humble smile and a handshake to make us feel welcome, and at the end he preset all the cars settings to the best of his ability. I have got to say in a world of dealerships and salesman who just want the sale and the commission Rick Case and Frank really changed the game.
To conclude I want to recommend anyone that is considering a Honda to consider Rick Case Honda, and ask for Frank Parlante.  His information is below.
Short Note: I want to add that I do live in Naples, FL and I went to look at cars at Germain Honda of Naples.  I had a far different experience than at Rick Case. They took a very long time to approach and help me, and gave me a quote that actually felt like an insult. I will not return there, and will instead go to Rick Case

Comcast

For my first post I want to talk about my experiences with Comcast. I want to say that this is only my own personal experience and therefore must be taken for what it is.

When moving to a new apartment I was confronted with the decision to choose T.V. and Internet providers. Since Comcast had a big name and could combine both the services I choose Comcast. They had reasonable charges and offered in my mind a great value.

I found out later however that this was not true. They offered a service called On Demand in which they said I would be able to watch my favorite shows at any time. I work more than 40 hours a week , and when I get home to watch T.V. I expect it to be there. This was not the case. I would have to say I had a realistic 20% success rate getting On Demand to work, and being able to watch T.V. This leads me to my next complaint. Whenever I called to ask for help I had to weed my way through a confusing phone system. Then I was lead to a representative who would just tell me to unplug and re plug. I asked for reimbursement for the inconvenience and was told no "On Demand is a privilege service we offer". I dealt over and over with this
I finally decided to end service when moving to Naples, and was told I could return my equipment to any local Comcast dealer. I later found out this was a flat out LIE. I could not return it anywhere and now that I was in Naples I would have to drive to Ft. Lauderdale to return it. If not I would face a 250.00 Fee for no returned equipment. To say the least I WILL NEVER USE COMCAST AGIN!

Introduction Blog

My name is Louis Edward Grubb, but I go by my middle name Ed .I am finishing two degrees, a bachelors in both Marketing and Management. I currently live in Naples Florida with my fiancĂ©e Caroline. We are planning to get married in July. I work for Naples Equity Advisors, which is a company that my father and I started.

I came up with the idea for this blog while dealing with a well-known company. Their customer service and company representatives were so horrible I just wanted to tell someone else. I realized that I could let others know about very good and poor companies as I run into them. The end result hopefully being someone can gain from my experiences. Hope there is something you can take away from here. Thanks for visiting!
